IC Information
Name: Zhu Li Moon
Age: 32 (not canon)
Canon: Legend of Korra
Canon Point: Post Book Three Finale
Physical Description: Zhu Li is always incredibly put together, no matter what. Her clothes and hair are incredibly neat, and there's never an item out of place in her ensemble. She's of average height, with dark hair, dark eyes, and fair skin. Presumably, she has some vision loss, because she needs glasses, but her eyesight isn't terrible without them, as we see her at her wedding without glasses.
Possessions: She's always got a notebook and a pen on her, but besides that, she has nothing else.
Companion:Does Varrick count... N/A!
Personality: Zhu Li is a perfectionist above all else. Her organizational skills are second to none, and she actually enjoys alphabetizing, planning, and all the things that make her the world's perfect assistant at Varrick Industries. As her work with Varrick shows, she's incredibly intelligent, despite her less-than-stellar position in the company. She's very perceptive and good at reading people, especially when she's gotten to know them well - after all, she always implicitly understands the catchphrase "do the thing!", even though it suggests a variety of different actions throughout the course of the series. She's a quick thinker, and she's prepared for everything, not shying away from even the most dangerous of risks. She's not one to crave the spotlight, and prefers to remain working in the background, as long as people don't act as if she has no talents at all.
When Zhu Li interacts with others, she's usually very calm and serious, without expressing much emotion. As she's not much of a showy person, she doesn't speak much unless it's absolutely necessary, and when she does talk, it's more to convey facts than to carry on a conversation. It takes moments of intense duress - as seen in Book 4 - for her to be more open about how she's feeling. Otherwise, she's a very closed-off person, keeping to herself and not attempting to get attached to other people. Unfortunately, this leads to her having not-so-great communication skills; she can easily get across hard information and data, but when it comes to how she's feeling, she finds it a lot more difficult to be as clear and direct as she usually is.
Zhu Li doesn't interact with many characters throughout the course of the series, and so, her relationship with Varrick is the best metric for us to see how she deals with relationships in general. As a result, it's clear that Zhu Li isn't someone who really prioritizes friendships. At least, she definitely doesn't see making friends as more important than her work, and her admiration of Varrick definitely stems from their situation as boss and employee. She's also a very loyal person - once someone means something to her, she's not one to let go, even when it might be better for her to do so. It's pretty clear that she'd do anything for Varrick, and that she trusts in him completely.
Zhu Li's morals are about as gray as Varrick's are. As long as she thinks that she's doing the right thing for the people important to her, she doesn't really mind how "good" that thing might be. Her sense of self-worth is still growing, but for the most part, she sees herself as comfortable in her situation right now. As a person, she's on a trajectory to become more confident in herself and her speech. She's also a very selfless person in general - she sacrifices a lot for other people and for the greater good, whether it's in a mundane sense as an assistant, or in a grander sense, such as the moment in Book 4 when she's ready to die in order to disable the spirit cannon.
Overall, Zhu Li is a competent woman who truly enjoys organizational work. She's a very serious woman when interacting with people she doesn't know well, and she doesn't have many friends or relationships, as she places heavy importance on her career. However, she's incredibly loyal to and protective of the few people she does have in her life, and is selfless and courageous in her own quiet way at all times.
